Remanufacturing, reinvented
REWIRE is a Horizon Europe project designed to make remanufacturing as fast, flexible and trusted as first-time manufacturing. Today, poor traceability, fragmented digital systems and limited automation keep most of Europe’s used industrial components from being restored, wasting valuable materials and deepening import dependence. Coordinated by Irish Manufacturing Research with a consortium of 13 partners from 8 countries, REWIRE combines AI, digital twins, modular robotics and Digital Product Passports to modernise disassembly, diagnostics and quality control, aiming to double the volume of remanufactured components across Europe while cutting costs across three different industries sectors.
